Methodology

Rohingya Monitor uses investigative monitoring, direct ground reporting, information from victims and witnesses, and other available sources to document crimes, abuses, and incidents affecting the Rohingya. Our ground team monitors developments, collects information, and investigates cases that may be underreported, overlooked, or difficult to document.

We carefully review and cross-check information before publishing it, particularly when it concerns sensitive incidents or alleged perpetrators. Information received from victims, witnesses, or other sources may be compared with available evidence and other relevant information to establish what can be reliably documented.

We maintain documented cases and information about reported perpetrators in our database. However, not all information is made publicly accessible. In cases involving alleged perpetrators, we consider local and international legal concerns and may keep information internal until relevant authorities investigate the case and take official action or make a decision.

Our methodology is focused on accuracy, verification, documentation, and responsible reporting, while also considering the security and safety risks involved in investigating sensitive cases.
