The militant Arakan Army has ordered Rohingya residents of Dha Gyi Za village in northern Maungdaw to leave by 31 October and move to Thu U La village. Villagers received the oral order in early October with threats of serious consequences. They fear losing their homes and belongings and seek clear assurances on their right to return.

Maungdaw, 18 October 2026 — The militant Arakan Army has ordered Rohingya residents of Dha Gyi Za village in northern Maungdaw Township to leave their homes by 31 October 2026.

Local sources said the villagers must move to Thu U La (locally known as Ku’ula bil in Rohingya) village. The order came during the first week of October.

AA troops entered the village under instructions from the area commander of Nga Khu Yea Area 4. They gave an oral order to vacate the area. They warned of serious consequences if the deadline is not met.

Rohingya Villagers Express Fear Over Homes and Future

Residents are deeply worried. Many spent years building their houses and collecting belongings. They fear losing everything.

One local man, who asked not to be named for safety reasons, said: “We are troubled because we must leave by 31 October. Will the AA protect what remains after we give up all we collected?”

Villagers want clear answers. They ask why the move is needed. They want to know how long they must stay away. They also want to know when they can return.

Another resident said: “The militant Arakan Army can drive us away. But they should allow us back to our land. We want the AA or ULA to tell us when we can return and what will happen to our families.”

Similar Order Issued on Rohingya Villagers in Ah Nauk Pyin Village

Earlier this month the militant Arakan Army issued a similar order in Ah Nauk Pyin village in Rathedaung Township. Residents there were told to leave by 17 October.

Before that order, the militant AA abducted 51 Rohingya villagers. One of them was killed and his body was returned to the village. The fate of the remaining abductees remains unknown.

Those who stayed in Ah Nauk Pyin after the deadline faced severe death threats.

Growing Insecurity Across Arakan State Against Rohingya

Insecurity continues to rise in areas under the control of the militant Arakan Army. Rohingya communities face pressure not only from the Myanmar military but also from the ethnic Rakhine armed group.

Residents of Dha Gyi Za village are calling for clear guarantees about their safety, their property and their right to return.

Rohingya Monitor will continue to follow the situation in both villages and provide further updates as more information becomes available.
